The Two Main Elements of Today

MCing/Rap:

Also known as “rhyming” or “rap” is a form of rhythmic speech, flowing or rhyming alongside a dj, track or instrumental

DJing/Spinning:

The basis of how hip hop started in 70s with the likes of DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash. DJs in parties would spin records and provide the crowd with a new way to listen and enjoy the music

The Other Elements

Breaking (B-Boying):

A street dance style that incorporates intricate movements, aesthetics, coordination and style. Mainly consists of 4 kinds of movements: power moves, freezes, downrock & toprock

Graffiti:

A form of visual communication or outlaw art. Often used to gain attention, a form of thrill seeking or an expressive art form
